Official Food Review: King of Falafel & Shawarma

I am a man of sophisticated taste and open mindedness.  Sure I’ll eat at some fancy NYC restaurants and let you all know about it.  But I’ll also eat an offensive amount of Wendy’s and wear that badge just as proudly.  If you’re putting out tasty food, I’d like to experience it.  That’s the punchline.  King of Falafel & Shawarma fits that bill.  The food is fantastic, and that’s the opinion of someone who’s not crazy about falafel or Middle Eastern food.  King of Falafel & Shawarma is the exception if there ever was one.

Three locations throughout New York; two trucks, one in Manhattan on 53rd and Park and the other on 31st/Ditmars in Astoria AND one restaurant on 31st/Broadway in Astoria as well.  When any food establishment covers ground like that in multiple locations, you know they’re not messing around.  And mess around they do not.

Every experience I’ve had has been after waiting on a long but fast line.  Lots of people know about it and now you do too.  But the service is efficient, and they’ll hand out free falafel samples to anyone waiting on line.  THAT is how you do business.  Not only is the falafel ridiculous but so is all the food.  Last time I had their Omar Platter which is chicken and shawarma over rice and vegetables covered in a bangin white sauce (and with the option to get it spicy which you obviously want to do).

If you want to expand your horizons and culture yourself in the form of a good meal, King of Falafel & Shawarma is the place.  Freddy the owner is a legitimate legend, and his food speaks for itself.  I don’t need to give a number to rate it, just take me at my word for it because my word is bond.

PS – You will not leave hungry; that’s a certainty.
