And so goes by another day in Jets Land. The first thing I will say is that the people making fun of the Jets and Jets fans are straight up ignorant to reality, plain and simple. This is what the Jets do. They’ve always been a circus, and they’ll always be a circus. All of the people saying “HAHA the Jets suck!”, yeah I fuckin know bro. Today doesn’t change anything. This organization is run by a guy who has never played a down of football and perpetuates a pedigree of humiliation. If we’re not signing virgin QBs who literally cannot throw a football, our quarterback is sliding into a lineman’s asshole. If the QB isn’t sliding into a lineman’s asshole, the QB is getting his jaw broken to pieces for not repaying his $600 debt. It really is incredible how the Jets find new ways to embarrass themselves, but to say I’m surprised would be a flat out lie. And while that’s pretty sad in and of itself, it’s been like that for years, and it will most likely continue to trend that way.
In terms of the incident itself, I’m not mad about it at all. The only thing I could complain about is that there’s some tension in the locker room. But A) there’s some kind of tension in every locker room, especially during training camp and B) it was a non-football issue. I don’t like Geno Smith. I don’t think he’s any good, and I don’t think he’s suitable to lead this team. I’ve been calling for Ryan Fitzpatrick to start since the day he joined Gang Green, and I’m finally getting my wish it looks like. Best case scenario too; it’s not like we had to give Geno a test run and watch him go 0-3 to start the year. We’ll have, in my opinion, our best rostered QB under center week 1. This may very well be a blessing in disguise. Fingers crossed that this big-bearded Harvard Amish whacko doesn’t totally fuck up, although he probably will.
Safe to say this IK Enemkpali guy is a punk. Anyone who sucker punches anyone is pretty much scum of the earth. It’s as cowardly a move as there is, and I think we can all agree with that. And it doesn’t matter if Geno instigated or antagonized him in anyway. This is a grown ass man sucker punching his starting quarterback because he owes him $600. These gifted athletes make millions of dollars, so arguing over $600 (equivalent to like $7 in my life right now) is pathetic and childish. He cost himself millions of dollars and quite possibly his NFL career over a small fee. No sympathy there.
This all could have been avoided if Geno Smith wasn’t a mediocre (at best) football player. When’s the last time Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady got sucker punched in the locker room? The bottom line is if when you perform on the field, you earn respect. It’s tough to respect a guy who tries switching the ball from hand to hand behind his back and acts like it’s a typical day at work. It’s tough to respect a guy who skips out on team meetings on the road to hit the cinema. If you win games, your jaw remains intact. That’s what I’ve learned from this. Also, if you owe someone money and don’t pay, you get beat up. That’s life, man.
Here’s a real quarterback. They just don’t make em like this anymore.
