No David Wright. No Travis d’Arnaud. No Zach Wheeler. No problem. The Mets continue to roll. 12-3, the best record in baseball, 10 straight wins, 9 straight at home. We’re barely two weeks into the season, but this has never happened to me before. The Mets have won ten in a row, but it’s not a fluke. This team is legitimate, and they’re not going anywhere. The scary part is the names that have been coming up huge in big spots lately. Do the names Jeurys Familia, Wilmer Flores, Kevin Plawecki ring a bell? Odds are they do not. The big boys (Lucas Duda, Michael Cuddyer, Curtis Granderson) have been somewhat quiet; productive, but not overpowering. Harvey hasn’t even shown anything close to his best stuff yet. Should I mention that Jon Niese and Dillon Gee have been pitching with their big boy pants? Dillon Gee who was supposed to be omitted from the starting rotation and banished to the bullpen as the odd man out. He’s pitched 5+ innings in 49 straight starts, most in the majors. Take that little tidbit with you.
They may never lose again. Is 159-3 good?
PS – Juan Lagares is the best CF in baseball. That’s why we call him Juanny Beisbol.
