I’ll tell ya, this was not how I expected to start my Sunday. I literally woke up, rolled over to my phone, and was punched in the face with this news. It’s truly some bitter irony. For as long as I can remember, I would sleep in on a Sunday morning, roll over, turn on the TV to get my SportsCenter fix and my Stuart Scott fix. The two go hand in hand. They go together like lamb and tuna fish, like spaghetti and meatballs (if you prefer that analogy). Stuart Scott literally was and is SportsCenter. You almost can’t have one without the other. It’s always sad to hear about people passing away, especially people we have known for so long. And as crazy as it sounds, Stuart Scott has played as big a TV role in my life as anyone I can remember. Watching ESPN has always been and will always be a weekly if not daily ritual. Normally I wouldn’t go into such detail about something like this, but this man deserves a tribute. This news genuinely upset me as well as many others.
He bravely fought cancer with his usual mix of calm and cool. SportsCenter and ESPN will never be the same. RIP Stu.
