Top 5 Applebee’s Appetizers

So I’m sitting here, mid-afternoon approaching dinner time, doing my usual daydreaming about Applebee’s. Nothing out of the ordinary, really. I start salivating as I read down the menu that is ingrained into my brain. Entrees dance across my mind, the quesadilla burger, the fajitas, the double crunch shrimp, it goes on and on. But how often do we even order entrees from Applebee’s? The appetizers aka apps are the main event, always has been always will be. It’s all about the half price apps, everyone knows that. Which brings me to the official top 5 appetizers in order. Certainly open for interpretation, and I respect all opinions, but none more than my own.

5. Nachos

The chips are incredible, like just as chips. Melt a little cheese throw some meat and vegetables on top of that, a little sour cream, bada bing bada boom. Big portion, too.

4. Mozzarella Sticks

The classic Mozzarella sticks. Applebee’s does the basics right, that’s why they’re so successful. The best items of there’s are the most simple ones. They’re items on every menu, but people keep ordering them. Applebee’s gets those right, the Mozz stix a perfect example of that. Great cheese-stretch.

3. Cheeseburger Sliders

I’ve heard people bash these burgers before which doesn’t make sense to me. Tender burgers, great sauce, soft bun. And you get french fries are you kidding? Have you ever had the fries at Applebee’s? They’re so yummy. My only complaint is that it’s a tough dish to split with someone because it’s three burgers.

2. Chicken Quesadillas

Better known as “dillas” (pronounce the L’s). I’ve never had a bad order of dillas at Bees. Consistent, but exciting. I also really like the lettuce and sour cream and salsa that come with it. Nice touch.

1. Boneless Wings

The undisputed champion. The bees knees. Truly the quintessential signature dish Applebee’s has to offer. If you know me you know I’m going buffalo every time. But that’s not to take anything away from the honey BBQ. It’s the cream of the crop. It’s what brings me in and what keeps me coming back. A little different every time, but consistently satisfying. I love you.

Honorable Mention: Chicken Wonton Tacos and Pretzel & Beer Cheese Dip. Taking the Dynamite Shrimp and Steak Quesadilla Towers off the menu have never sat well with me. I don’t know if I can ever forgive them for that.

PS – Their “See You Tomorrow” slogan is such a statement. Just expecting me to return the next day, so cocky, so perfect.

PPS – I probably could rank top 5 servers at Manalapan Applebees but we all know Big Daddy Rob takes the cake.
