Left, Right, Left, Right…Very Basic Concept.

I’ve absolutely had it with people who making walking on a sidewalk/path more difficult than it has to be. You would think that people know how to get from point A to point B by foot. Left, right, left, right. It’s so simple! When you’re with a group of people, you cause traffic, that’s obvious and expected. Doesn’t mean you need to be an asshole and an idiot on top of that. You need to stack up, preferable on the right side. You can’t walk 5 wide, it doesn’t work like that. There are other people walking towards you. Stack up 3 and 3 behind, or 2-2-2. After you pass a crowd, spread out again, no problem.

When you’re by yourself, it should be even easier. Step 1, pun most certainly intended, create an identity for yourself. Let everyone else know you’re there. Let them know what side you’re walking on. Tell them, through body language and movements, where on the sidewalk you are and don’t hesitate. Don’t be unsure. Establish dominance. The person directly in front of you is only 20 yards away and closing fast. Either take a half step to one side, or turn your head one way. YOU need to step up (please intend that pun once again) and pick a side. There should be no problems, no collisions. Rarely should there ever be an instance where you are face to face with someone and either nobody makes the move or you move back and forth in the same direction. Fuckin hate that! Be consistent and be passively aggressive. Don’t be an asshole and move side to side or walk as group 5 bodies wide, it’s messed up. But assert some dominance. It’s your sidewalk! Let em know!
